Recently, we converted the Bury St Edmunds Town Workhouse into 4 houses for which we received the Bury Society Award. The property was a Grade 2 listed building and on the at-risk register. While converting, we managed to save many original details of the building in order to maintain the aesthetics of the building. We built the front wall using salvaged material from the construction work, while new cellars were created under two of the houses to provide extra living accommodation. We also managed to create attics within the existing building structure.
